Pune, 4th March 2026: Traffic Police have intensified their crackdown on drunk driving, booking 301 motorists within three days as part of a special city-wide campaign aimed at improving road safety and preventing accidents.
The drive was conducted between February 27 and March 1, during which the city traffic branch set up 30 checkpoints across different areas of Pune. Officers stopped vehicles and tested drivers using breath analyzers to detect alcohol consumption.
Those found driving under the influence were booked under the Motor Vehicles Act, and legal action was taken against them.
Speaking about the operation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said, “The special campaign was carried out across the city to identify and act against motorists driving under the influence of alcohol. A total of 301 drivers were booked during the three-day operation.”
Police had earlier also conducted a surprise ‘Drink and Drive’ check on February 25, setting up nakabandis at 30 locations across the city. During that operation, 31 drunk drivers were caught.
