Pune, 24th August 2026: Light showers have been forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Pune and nearby areas over the next few days. Rainfall is expected to remain subdued across the city, with no major increase likely before August 29.
The weather pattern may change from August 29, when rainfall activity is expected to increase over Pune and the Western Maharashtra ghats. The rise could bring more widespread showers to the city and surrounding areas towards the end of the week.
Pune’s four major dams continue to remain at full capacity, keeping the city’s water supply situation comfortable. The reservoirs have maintained strong storage levels following substantial monsoon rainfall earlier in the season.
Across Maharashtra, rainfall is expected to remain largely subdued between August 24 and 29, although heavy showers may continue in the Western Maharashtra ghats. Konkan and Goa are likely to receive fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during most of the week.
Vidarbha is expected to receive widespread rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning possible on August 25. Heavy rain forecast for August 24 is likely to reduce to isolated showers by August 29, while Madhya Maharashtra may see isolated to scattered rainfall, becoming more widespread around August 25.
Marathwada is likely to receive light and scattered rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning possible on August 24. For now, Punekars can expect mostly light showers, while heavier rainfall is likely to remain concentrated in the ghat regions and other parts of Maharashtra.
