Pune, 25 October 2025: A fresh controversy has erupted in Pune after former MLA and Shiv Sena city chief Ravindra Dhangekar accused Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol of using a car owned by a private builder during his tenure as Mayor. The same builder had reportedly submitted a bid in the Jain Boarding land deal, sparking a new round of political sparring between the two leaders.

The dispute stems from the sale of a three-acre plot belonging to the Jain Boarding in Pune’s Model Colony. The land was purchased for ₹230 crore by Gokhale Landmark LLP. Allegations surfaced that Mohol had a stake in the company. However, Mohol clarified that he had withdrawn his partnership from the firm after becoming a Union Minister and had no involvement in the transaction.

Despite this clarification, Dhangekar continued to target Mohol, questioning his ethics and releasing an old video claiming that Mohol had used a vehicle belonging to builder Bhadekar. He asked whether such conduct was appropriate for a public official.

Responding to the accusations, Mohol said he had always used his own vehicle and covered his own fuel expenses. He called Dhangekar’s claims “a product of a frustrated mindset” and challenged him to present proof. Mohol also alleged that Dhangekar himself faced land-grabbing cases in Pune’s Kothrud area and added that he never spoke against Dhangekar even during elections, as he preferred to stay away from personal attacks.

Meanwhile, RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an inquiry into the Jain Trust property transaction and the alleged involvement of Mohol. Kumbhar also sought a probe into the roles of Gokhale Landmark LLP, Buldhana Urban Co-op Credit Society (Maharashtra), and Shree Birehshwar Co-op Credit Society (Karnataka), along with the concerned officials.
