Pune, 20 October 2025: Pune kicked off its annual book festival with a stunning cultural display as a replica of the historic Shaniwarwada was lit with hundreds of diyas. The sparkling setup created a mesmerizing sight, celebrating the city’s rich heritage and captivating visitors from the moment the event began.
The festival, organized by the National Book Trust (NBT), will run from December 13 to 21 at the Ferguson College campus. Authors, publishers, and book enthusiasts from across India are expected to participate, making it a major platform for literary exchange and cultural dialogue.
Titled ‘From Deepotsav to Book Festival,’ the event aims to go beyond books, combining literature, tradition, creativity, and illumination in a unique celebration. Organizers emphasized that it is a festival of knowledge, culture, and inspiration for people of all ages.
The inauguration was attended by several notable figures, including chief organizer Rajesh Pandey, actor Pravin Tarde, professors Anand Katikar and Sanjay Chakne, Dr. Devidas Vaidande, Bageshri Manthalkar, Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Dr. D.B. Pawar, Prof. Sudhakar Jadhavar, and Rahul Pakhare. Their presence underscored the festival’s importance as a cultural and literary milestone for Pune.
