Pune, 12 March 2026: Despite the inauguration of the flyover connecting Ganeshkhind Road to Baner, traffic congestion and confusion continue to plague the busy Acharya Anand Rishiji Maharaj Chowk, popularly known as University Chowk.

While the flyover has offered some relief to motorists travelling towards Baner, several factors are still disrupting traffic flow in the area. The ramp connecting the flyover towards Pashan is still under construction, and ongoing metro work has significantly narrowed the road, particularly affecting traffic movement during morning and evening peak hours.

Vehicles coming from the Rural Police Headquarters side are currently being diverted towards Chatushrungi Chowk, which has added to the congestion in the surrounding stretches.

Motorists travelling from Aundh are also facing confusion due to the absence of clear signboards indicating who should use the flyover. As a result, drivers often hesitate at the junction, slowing down traffic and creating bottlenecks.

Adding to the chaos, some vehicles have been seen entering Baner Road from the wrong direction. Traffic wardens deployed at the spot are struggling to manage the situation and are frequently forced to stop and redirect these vehicles.

Another issue raised by commuters is the placement of signboards for the flyover. The boards indicating which vehicles should use the flyover from Ganeshkhind Road have been installed only near the entrance of the flyover and are relatively small in size.

Due to this, many motorists realise too late whether they should take the flyover or continue on the main road, leading to sudden lane changes and further confusion at the junction.

With construction work still ongoing and traffic guidance remaining unclear, commuters say that the much-awaited flyover has not yet fully solved the congestion problems at one of Pune’s busiest intersections.
