New leaks suggest Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a significantly larger battery alongside a thicker and heavier design than its predecessor. Apple has not confirmed the specifications, and the device is expected to launch later this year.
According to regulatory filings and leaker claims, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery capacity of around 5,391mAh to 5,567mAh, up from roughly 4,823mAh to 5,088mAh on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. If accurate, it would represent one of the largest battery increases in recent iPhone generations.
Leaks also suggest the device may measure around 9mm thick and weigh approximately 240 grams, compared with 8.75mm and 233 grams for its predecessor. The added thickness and weight are reportedly linked to the larger battery and a new stainless steel vapour chamber cooling system designed to improve thermal performance.
Rumours also point to larger camera hardware, a variable-aperture main camera on the Pro models, a smaller Dynamic Island and new colour options, including a Dark Cherry finish. The standard iPhone 18 Pro is expected to receive a smaller battery upgrade, while the Pro Max is likely to remain focused on battery life and larger-screen users.
The leaked specifications vary across sources, and Apple has not officially announced the device. The iPhone 18 series is widely expected to debut alongside the company's rumoured foldable iPhone later this year.
