The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered unblocking of the Cockroach Janta Party's X handle, which was withheld in May.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the judgement on a petition filed by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke against the Centre's blocking order.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted that the CJP's social media handle was blocked to avoid "chaos" among students and parents ahead of the June 21 NEET re-test.

As NEET has already concluded, the main issue has become irrelevant. In light of this, the order is set aside and the petition is granted, Justice Sharma ruled.

The initial X account of the CJP, launched as a satirical digital platform on May 15 after a row over Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s comments, was blocked in India on May 21.

Shortly thereafter, the group reappeared with a new account titled 'Cockroach is Back', which currently has more than 227,000 followers.

The movement has drawn attention for its unconventional symbolism and digital mobilisation strategy, with supporters describing the "cockroach" identity as a form of protest.

The CJP states that it aims to create an autonomous, youth-led movement to highlight young people’s concerns and ensure government accountability.

It has initiated a campaign calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing alleged systemic failures in the education system and the NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak..

Sonam Wangchuk, who refers to himself as an 'Honorary Cockroach', has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since June 28, calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

His health has been steadily declining, with medical records indicating an overall weight loss of nearly 7 kg, reduced blood pressure, and blood glucose levels frequently falling between 61 and 72 mg/dL.
