The Lannisters, the Starks and the Khaleesi with her dragons are ready to play the final game, but most importantly, winter is here and so are the white walkers. Are you ready for the end?
One of the advantages of having a streaming subscription is that you can catch stuff much earlier than torrents with sufficient seeders for download. So the first episode of season 7 of Game of Thrones has been available an hour after it aired in US. And here are some first impressions.
Up first is a huge surprise for the Stark fans who loathed the red wedding. Let's us just say that this is one mass murder which fans will cheer. Up next, the battle between the two queens, Cersei and Daenyrys enters its first phase.
The first episode of a new season sketches out the plot lines which will evolve through the later episodes. This episode does just that, impressively. It makes you notice how small the GoT world has become from the first season. Most of the action is now happening either in Westeros or the Blackwater Bay.
Last season's finale saw Daenyrys finally setting out to conquer Westeros aided by her dragons. The dragons seem to be GoT equivalent of a nuclear bomb. But do they have any weaknesses to be exploited by their enemy?
Speaking of enemies, at King's landing one gets the feeling that after losing all her children, Cersei is now slowly losing it. She talks about establishing a dynasty with Jaime, and when Jaime points out that there is no one left to establish a dynasty for, she coolly replies, “It will be a dynasty for us.”
Things are moving fast at Winterfell as well. Jon Snow, who is unaware of his actual parentage, has taken charge of the North, aided by his sister Sansa. But they are now facing a war on two fronts – one with the Lannisters, and the other with the dreaded white walkers – which brings us to Sam at citadel. He cleans toilet pans of the library masters, and then discovers a possible way to defeat the white walkers.
And in case you have been wondering where that imp, Tyrion, has been, you have to wait till the very end to see him looking of the map of Westeros with Daenyrys. Winter is finally here.
