Riteish shoots for a special number with Ayushmann and Nushrat

Sakal Times

Ayusmann Khuranna and Nushrat Bharucha is recreating the famous Marathi song Dhagala lagli kala paani themb themb gala for their upcoming film Dream Girl. Riteish Deshmukh has joined the actors for the special dance number, which has been composed by Meet Bros. The new lyrics have been written by Kumaar, and Meet Bros and Jyotika Tangri have sung the song.

The actors recently completed shooting for the song in Mumbai. Ask Riteish what brought him onboard and he says, “Dhagala is an all-time favourite dance number. The original featured the legendary Dada Kondke, so being a part of this song was motivation enough. Also, Ayushmann and Nushrat are fantastic actors and dancers and having admired their work, I was happy to share the screen with them.”

About the iconic song, Riteish points out that everyone who is born or brought up in Maharashtra has danced to it. “It can make even a non-dancer sway, that’s the power of the song. And every actor wants to do an out-and-out dance number. There have been great recreations of songs, some not so good ones as well. As long as due respect is given to a track in its recreated version, it is welcome. The younger generation is accepting and dancing to it and that’s great,” he adds.

Dream Girl, directed by Raaj Shaanilyaa, also stars Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Annu Kapoor and Rajesh Sharma. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Aashish Singh, the film is set to release on September 13.
