Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are known for keeping their personal lives very private. Yet, from time to time, fans discover stories about the superstar that only increase their respect for him. Recently, an old video of Gauri Khan’s uncle has reappeared online, in which he recounts an emotional gesture Shah Rukh made for his pet dog, revealing how deeply he was attached to it.
'How dare you throw my dog like this?'
In an earlier conversation with Talky Tails, Gauri’s maternal uncle recalled giving her a Chinese Pekingese dog as a gift and how Shah Rukh slowly became attached to the pet. He said, “Gauri is my niece, my elder sister’s daughter. I had given her a Chinese Pekingese dog as a present.”However, when the dog passed away, Shah Rukh’s staff buried it near the seashore without informing him, as he was away shooting late into the night. When he returned and learned what had happened, he was deeply upset.
Recalling the episode, Gauri’s uncle said, "SRK grew deeply attached to the dog. While he was away on a shoot, the dog died. The household staff wrapped its body in a cloth and buried it near the seashore. When SRK came home late that night and found out what had happened, he was devastated. At 2:30 in the morning, he woke the staff, asked them to take him to the exact spot, personally dug up the grave, brought the dog’s body back, laid it in the backyard, and created a memorial there. He even broke down in tears and said, 'How could you dispose of my dog like this? He must stay with us, in death as in life.'"
