Shreya Ghoshal pays tribute to Asha Bhosle during her London concert

At her recent concert at The O2 in London, Shreya honored Asha Bhosle with a special tribute. As photographs of the legendary singer were projected in the background, Shreya rendered some of Asha’s classic numbers, including “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar” and “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani.” The video captured the crowd enthusiastically singing along, cheering, and whistling as Shreya performed live on stage.

The internet also poured love on Shreya. One user commented, "She is the only truly elite singer who can match the essence of Lata ji and Asha ji." Another said, "Only she can do justice to both Lata ji and Asha ji." A different comment read, "Petition to release her unplugged version of this song on Spotify." Another fan added, "This is so beautiful."

Shreya also grieved the passing of the iconic singer and wrote a heartfelt note on Instagram in her memory. She posted a photo with Asha Bhosle and captioned it, "Today, we lost a voice that shaped generations… a spirit that transformed music itself."

I grew up listening to her, learning from her, and being mesmerized by her effortless versatility—the way she could breathe life into every note and make every emotion feel intimate. From the lightest, most playful tunes to the most profound ghazals, and through her extraordinary mastery of songs in Marathi, Bangla, and countless other languages, she did it all in a way that only she could.

The note further read, "For so many of us, she wasn’t just an inspiration… she was a part of our musical soul. I feel incredibly blessed to have witnessed her greatness in my lifetime. Her voice will echo through time, through every artist she inspired, through every heart she touched. Rest in music, Asha tai. Your legacy will never fade."

About Asha Bhosle’s death

The legendary singer died at the age of 92 on Sunday, April 12. She had reportedly been facing health problems for a while and was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday after experiencing cardiac and respiratory complications. After news of her death broke, numerous celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Kajol, expressed their grief on social media and shared heartfelt tributes in her memory.
