International Tea Day 2025: Not just in India, but in ‘these’ countries of the world, people drink the most tea

Tea is considered to be one of the most favorable drinks. It is not only related with taste and culture but also a forum of communication over various cultures.

Every year 21st May is celebrated as International Tea Day. The motive behind celebrating this day is to spread awareness about the history, culture and importance of tea.

India has a lot of tea lovers. In India, tea is served from houses to restaurants, and till every end of the street, but there are few countries where the amount of tea consumed is higher than of India. India is the second largest tea producer in the world.

China is at the highest. India is placed at the 23rd position amidst the countries that consume the most tea. Let’s find out today which are the countries that consume tea the most.

Turkey

Turkey is considered to consume the most tea compared to other countries around the world. Here, every person consumer 3.16 kg of tea every year.  Tea is a social tradition in Turkey. Here, the day starts and ends with tea. Sweat tea without milk is served in small glass glasses.

Ireland

After Turkey, Ireland is the second largest consumer of tea. The annual per capita tea consumption here is 2.19kg. The Irish love to drink strong black tea along with milk. Tea is considered to be an important aspect of their lives and hospitality.

England

The British tradition of afternoon tea is known all over the world. Here, tea is served with biscuits. Here, each person consumes approximately 1.94kg of tea per year.

Iran

Black tea is famous in Iran. Russia is placed at the fifth position when it comes to serving tea in traditional samovars. Moroccan’s green tea that is made with pudina is known all over the world.
