Accident in Lohegaon: College Student Dies in Dumper Accident on D.Y. Patil Road

Deceased Swapnil Prakash Salve (22), a resident of Yavat, was pursuing a B. Pharm degree in Dudulgaon and lived in Kesnand with his friends.

Pune: A tragic accident on D.Y. Patil Road in Lohegaon claimed the life of a 22-year-old college student, who was struck by a dumper while riding his two-wheeler. The accident occurred on Monday (March 17) afternoon and resulted in instant death.

The deceased has been identified as Swapnil Prakash Salve (22), a resident of Yavat, Taluka Daund. Swapnil was pursuing a B. Pharm degree in Dudulgaon and lived in Kesnand with his friends. He also worked part-time at a medical store while completing his education.

Collision with a Dumper Led to Fatal Accident

According to Viman Nagar Police, Swapnil was riding his two-wheeler (MH-14 MD 6357) towards Kesnand when he was hit by an oncoming dumper (MH-12 RM 4558). The impact caused him to fall under the rear wheels of the vehicle, resulting in his immediate death.

The dumper driver, Venkata Gurappa Pawar, a resident of Nirgudi Road, Lohegaon, has been taken into custody. Viman Nagar Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

Residents Blame Poor Road Conditions for Frequent Accidents

Local residents have long raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of roads in Lohegaon, which has led to multiple accidents. Despite several complaints to the municipal authorities, no corrective action has been taken. Residents are now demanding immediate road repairs to prevent further fatal accidents in the area.
