Pune: A major dispute has arisen in Amit Emerald Park and Celebration Society, two housing societies in Balewadi, due to an alleged mapping error by the Land Records Office. According to the societies’ office bearers, a key access road that connects the residential complex has been incorrectly shown as part of another private property. This mistake has put the mobility of around 60 families at risk, potentially cutting off their entry and exit routes in the future.
The issue was highlighted in a press conference held by the office bearers of both societies. Santosh Chhajed, President of Celebration Society, along with several residents and officials, attended the event. They strongly criticized the land survey officers, alleging deliberate foul play for the benefit of a private landowner.
Chhajed stated, "The land survey official has deliberately made this change to benefit a private party. We have officially demanded strict action against the responsible officer. This mistake has created a legal crisis for us, and our buildings are now under the threat of demolition."
Legal Approval vs. Survey Discrepancy
The two housing societies were developed on Survey No. 31/9, and their building plans were legally approved by the Pune Municipal Corporation in 2007 and 2010. Despite this, the access road that originally belonged to Amit Emerald Park was later acquired by the municipal body as part of a Floor Space Index (FSI) compensation deal. The road was then inaccurately recorded under Survey No. 29, which belongs to another private property. This has led to a serious predicament for residents, whose only access point is now at risk of being blocked.
Call for Government Intervention
With this unexpected threat to their mobility and housing security, the societies are urging government authorities to intervene.
"We request the Settlement Commissioner to take immediate action. The Municipal Commissioner should personally visit the site, verify the records, and ensure that our rightful access road is restored on paper," demanded the society members.
