Pune: Two days after the shocking shooting of a company manager in the Varale industrial area of Khed, the police investigation has hit a roadblock. With no concrete leads and non-functional CCTV cameras at the crime scene, the search for the two helmeted assailants remains inconclusive.
The incident occurred on Monday, January 20, when Ajitsingh Vikram Singh, a manager at a local company, was shot twice by two men on a motorcycle at the company’s entrance gate. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving Singh seriously injured. He is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Non-Functional CCTV Cameras Pose Major Hurdle
The police investigation has been hampered by the lack of functional CCTV cameras at the company premises where the attack occurred. Despite the presence of cameras, they were reportedly out of order at the time of the shooting.
While neighboring establishments had some road-facing cameras, only limited footage has been retrieved. These partial visuals show the two suspects fleeing the scene on a motorcycle without a license plate. The absence of critical footage from the crime site itself has significantly slowed down the investigation.
Police Struggle to Identify Motive
Investigators remain puzzled about the motive behind the attack. In his statement, Singh told the police that he had no professional disputes, personal conflicts, or family disagreements that could explain the incident.
The police are now exploring all angles, including a potential business dispute. Singh’s company has multiple business partners, and they are being questioned to uncover any possible leads.
Challenges in Tracking the Suspects
The two attackers were both wearing helmets, concealing their identities, and the motorcycle they used had no license plate, making their identification even more challenging. Despite these difficulties, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Shivaji Pawar stated, “We are reviewing all available evidence and are committed to solving the case. The suspects will be apprehended soon.”
