Pune: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ruled against Bajaj Insurance Company for wrongfully rejecting a motor accident claim, ordering the company to pay ₹32,634 as compensation for vehicle damage and mental distress.

The case was brought before the forum by Sanjay Borse, a primary school teacher from Kasarsai (Taluka Mulshi). In December 2021, Borse’s car was involved in an accident at Chandni Chowk, resulting in significant damage.

Since the vehicle was insured with Bajaj Insurance, he filed a formal claim for compensation, providing all necessary documentation. However, the insurance company denied the claim, asserting that the accident had never occurred.

Despite repeated appeals, Bajaj Insurance refused to settle the claim, prompting Borse to escalate the matter to the District Consumer Forum. After thoroughly examining the evidence and statements from both parties, the forum ruled in Borse’s favor.

The insurance company was ordered to pay ₹32,634 as compensation for both the vehicle damage and the mental distress caused by the unjust denial of the claim.

Following the Consumer Forum’s ruling, Bajaj Insurance issued the compensation cheque to Borse. Grateful for the forum’s intervention, Borse expressed his appreciation and remarked, “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs).
