Pune: A man was severely beaten by his elder brother and nephews over the distribution of money from the sale of ancestral land. The assault took place in Karvenagar, in front of Keyur Electronics, on Thursday (October 17) evening at approximately 8 PM.

The victim, Dnyaneshwar Lakshman Dighe, 46, a resident of Happy Colony in Kothrud, filed a complaint at the Warje Malwadi police station against Ramdas Lakshman Dighe, 51, along with family members Lila, Sharad, and Manoj Ramdas Dighe, all of whom live in Makwan Chawl, Gosavi Wasti, Karvenagar.

According to the police report, Dyaneshwar, who works as a driver, had sold ancestral land in Bhambarde village, with an agreement that he and his elder brother would equally share the proceeds. However, tension arose when Dyaneshwar's nephew, Sharad, called him to discuss the division of the funds.

Upon arrival at the Wadacha bus stop, Dyaneshwar encountered his elder brother Ramdas and sister-in-law Lila, along with Sharad. The confrontation escalated when Sharad inquired about their share of the money.

Dyaneshwar explained that he had used the funds for his parents' medical expenses and assured them he would provide their share as soon as possible. This led to a violent outburst from Sharad, who began kicking and punching Dyaneshwar.

As the altercation intensified, Dyaneshwar’s younger brother Manoj joined the attack. The pair grabbed a piece of wooden bamboo from the roadside and struck Dyaneshwar multiple times, injuring him severely. They also assaulted Dyaneshwar's son, Soham, who attempted to intervene.

The situation was further aggravated until Dyaneshwar's wife and daughter, Anisha, rushed to their aid, successfully separating them from their attackers.
