Pune: The Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha recently hosted a two-day "10 Children" initiative organized by Rainbow Umbrella Foundation, SMART, and Seva Sahayog Foundation. This global initiative spans 10 countries and is conducted in India under the name "Ti" (She), with the theme focusing on "Poverty and Girls."
The inaugural event was attended by prominent figures, including Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed) University; Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, former Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University; Ravindra Dev, President of Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha; and Dr. P. V. S. Shastri, the institution's Secretary. Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, and Dr. Anuradha Sahasrabuddhe, also addressed the attendees, providing valuable guidance.
Girls and directors from various organizations, including Seva Sahayog Foundation, Green Tara Foundation, Nirmaan Sanstha, and Work for Equality, shared insights into the challenges faced by girls in underprivileged communities around Pune.
A documentary highlighting these issues, directed by Tejas Kulkarni and Mahesh Khandare, was showcased during the event. The inaugural performance of the play "Sopa Nastech Kahi" (Nothing is Easy), written by Vibhawari Deshpande and directed by Hrishikesh Deshpande, was met with enthusiasm. Additionally, the launch of a booklet titled "Ti" marked a significant highlight of the event.
Representatives from organizations like Door Step School (Rajani Paranjape and Mandar Shinde), De Asra Foundation (Vaishali Aparajit), Snehalaya (Girish Kulkarni), Jnana Prabodhini (Harsha Kirve), and Loksadhana (Dr. Raja Dandekar) provided an overview of their ongoing efforts to support education and empowerment.
The concluding session featured a presentation by Milind Kshirsagar, who introduced software developed by Tirubaa Technologies specifically aimed at supporting girls.
