Pune: A 37-year-old man from Kondhwa has filed a police complaint after being duped of ₹1,11,000 under the pretext of a job offer at the Serum Institute of India. The accused provided a fake appointment letter after taking the money, which the victim later discovered to be fraudulent.
The Kondhwa Police have registered a case against Krishna Dattatray Sutar (28), a resident of Vakratunda Society, Bankar Nagar, Dhayari. According to the complaint, the incident took place between 2022 and the present.
Investigations revealed that the victim and the accused were acquaintances. Krishna Sutar reportedly claimed to have connections at the Serum Institute of India and promised to secure the victim a position in the Human Resources (HR) department.
In exchange for the job offer, Sutar demanded and received ₹1,11,000. To convince the victim, Sutar provided a fabricated appointment letter bearing the name of the Serum Institute.
When the victim presented the letter at the Serum Institute, officials there confirmed it was fake. After multiple attempts to retrieve the money from Sutar failed, the victim approached the police to report the fraud.
Assistant Police Inspector Usgaokar is leading the investigation. The police have assured that necessary steps will be taken to recover the victim's money and bring the accused to justice.
