Pune: A motorcycle accident near Khed Shivapur claimed the life of a 21-year-old man, leading to a case being filed against his friend, who was riding the vehicle. The incident occurred on January 11 around 10 PM on the Mumbai-Bengaluru bypass road near Jambhulwadi.
The deceased, identified as Dipu Parbesh Rajbhar, was riding pillion on the motorcycle driven by his friend, Shoaib Nayum Sheikh (25). According to the police, the duo was returning from a party at Khed Shivapur when the accident occurred. Shoaib allegedly applied the brakes abruptly near a speed breaker, causing the bike to skid.
Dipu fell off the bike and sustained critical head injuries, leading to his death during treatment. Shoaib, who also sustained injuries, has been charged in connection with the incident, based on a complaint filed at Ambegaon Police Station.
Young Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Pune Station
In another incident, a 21-year-old motorcyclist, Atharva Sambhaji Pastapure, died after being hit by a speeding car on Raja Bahadur Mill Road near Pune Station on January 16. The Bund Garden Police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 AM, as Atharva was traveling on the road when a high-speed car collided with his motorcycle, leaving him fatally injured. A complaint has been lodged by Narsingh Sanjay Bhandare, the victim's cousin. Investigations are underway to identify the driver.
