Pune, 4th December 2024: Sudden weather changes in Pune, caused by the 'Fengal' cyclone, have altered the winter season's expected experience.

Midnight rainfall on Wednesday reduced the cold intensity in areas like Kothrud, Baner, and central Pune. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts cloudy skies and light showers until December 8, with a notable reduction in winter chill.

The IMD has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for several districts, warning of light rainfall accompanied by lightning in Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Sangli, Dharashiv, Latur, and Nanded.

On Thursday, light showers with thunderstorms are expected in Sindhudurg and Kolhapur, while Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Solapur may experience light to moderate rain on Friday.

The unseasonal weather has raised concerns among farmers. Cloudy skies and light rainfall could harm crops, prompting agriculturalists to implement protective measures.

Reduced winter chill across Maharashtra is contributing to warmer-than-usual conditions, expected to persist for the next five days.

The IMD's report also highlights that parts of Konkan and Western Maharashtra are likely to see continued light to moderate rainfall, with temperatures rising as a result.
