Fire Destroys Over 150 Electric Two-Wheelers at Katraj Manufacturing Unit; No Casualties Reported

Pune: A massive fire broke out at Bhushan Enterprises, an electric two-wheeler manufacturing company in Katraj, on Tuesday (March 4) around 4 PM, destroying over 150 unfinished vehicles, spare parts, and batteries. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

The company, located in Sai Industrial Area on Katraj-Gujarwadi Road, houses components for 2,000 electric two-wheelers. The fire spread rapidly after igniting the stored materials, sending thick black smoke into the sky. Workers quickly evacuated, averting a major disaster.

  • Multiple fire stations responded: Teams from Gangadham, Katraj, Kondhwa Budruk, and PMRDA fire centers were deployed.

  • Firefighting efforts: Six fire engines and 13 water tankers were used to contain the flames.

  • Damage assessment: Over 150 vehicles, spare parts, and batteries were destroyed.

  • Unknown cause: The exact reason behind the fire remains under investigation.

"Our teams acted swiftly to contain the fire and prevent further damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined," said an official from the Fire Department’s control room.
