Pune: The long-awaited ‘Glass Skywalk’ project at Lonavala’s Tiger Point and Lion’s Point has received final approvals, and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has started the tendering process for its construction. This new tourism initiative is expected to boost the appeal of Lonavala and the Maval region, making it a key attraction for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

A meeting was recently held in Mumbai, attended by Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, to discuss tourism development in the Lonavala and Maval areas. Given the region's natural beauty and heavy tourist influx, Pawar proposed the construction of a Glass Skywalk at Tiger Point and Lion’s Point, along with various adventure and recreational facilities.

During the meeting, Ajit Pawar emphasized that the project should be eco-friendly, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. He instructed the Tourism Department to take up the project and prepare a detailed development plan.

However, the Tourism Department expressed its inability to execute the project, leading Pawar to assign the responsibility to PMRDA. Following this, PMRDA secured approval from the state government and completed the project blueprint. The Environmental Department granted clearance, after which the tendering process was officially launched.

PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase confirmed, “With all necessary approvals in place, the project has now moved to the tendering stage.”
