Pune: Shocking revelations have emerged in the Hinjewadi arson case, where a Tempo Traveller was set on fire, leading to the tragic deaths of four employees of Vyoma Graphics. Investigations indicate that the accused, bus driver Janardhan Hambardikar, had issued a direct threat just a day before the incident, stating, "I'll deal with everyone one by one."
Hambardikar, allegedly enraged over salary cuts and workplace disputes, carried out the horrifying act by setting fire to the company’s employee transport vehicle. The incident took place on Wednesday at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Pune, where four employees were charred to death. Hambardikar has since been booked for murder and attempted murder, while police continue questioning company staff.
The Accused’s Threat Before the Incident
According to a company employee, Janardhan had a history of frequent altercations over minor issues. On the day before the incident, he appeared particularly agitated, reportedly muttering, "These people think too highly of themselves. Just wait, I'll deal with each one of them." This statement has now gained significance in light of the fatal arson attack.
Family Raises Doubts Over Investigation
While the police maintain that Hambardikar set fire to the vehicle over grievances regarding withheld bonuses and salaries, his family has questioned this narrative.
Brother-in-Law Inside the Bus: The accused’s family argues that Janardhan’s own brother-in-law was inside the bus. They find it hard to believe that he would intentionally put his relative’s life at risk.
Survivors’ Quick Escape: The family also raised concerns about how some passengers managed to escape with minor injuries while others perished.
Chemical Access at the Company: Janardhan’s wife claimed that her husband had already received money for Diwali, contradicting the alleged financial motive. She also questioned how he was able to obtain chemicals from the workplace without anyone noticing.
