Pune: The Hinjewadi arson case has taken a new turn, with police now questioning the owner of Vyoma Graphics, where the accused mini-bus driver, Janardan Hambardikar, was employed. Investigations indicate that workplace grievances may have led to the shocking incident.
The incident, initially believed to be an accident, took place after Hambardikar allegedly set fire to the bus, reportedly out of frustration over salary disputes and perceived discrimination at work. Investigations later revealed that he had expressed anger over the lack of a salary hike and had even issued threats before the incident.
Following these revelations, Vyoma Graphics owner Niten Shah has denied all accusations made by Hambardikar. Speaking to the media, Shah stated, "We are deeply shocked by this incident and are fully cooperating with the authorities. We are also providing necessary aid to the injured."
Shah refuted claims of withholding salaries and insisted that the driver had been paid regularly.
Key Areas of Investigation
As part of the inquiry, police have questioned Vyoma Graphics on several critical points, including:
How did Hambardikar obtain benzene?
Was the company negligent in managing hazardous materials?
Did the bus exceed its seating capacity?
Was the driver denied a salary raise or bonus?
Did the driver or other employees file workplace complaints, and how were they handled?
