Pune: A shocking revelation has surfaced regarding the Tempo Traveller fire incident in Pune’s Hinjewadi area. Officials have confirmed that the incident was not an accident but a deliberate act planned in advance. The accused, identified as Janardan Hambardikar, has been taken into police custody. Investigations reveal that he had meticulously planned the attack a day prior to executing it.
According to police sources, Hambardikar was involved in frequent disputes with his coworkers at the company. The daily travel routine, coupled with persistent conflicts, had reportedly caused immense frustration. Unable to cope with the tensions, he devised a vengeful plan to inflict harm.
Authorities have disclosed that Hambardikar’s intention was not only to create chaos but to specifically target the individuals with whom he had personal grievances. His actions were premeditated, with clear intent to cause maximum damage.
The planning for the attack began the previous day when Hambardikar acquired a one-liter bottle of benzene solution, a highly flammable chemical used for cleaning printing machines and ink. He also gathered cloth scraps, which he carefully concealed under the seat of the vehicle. Additionally, he brought a matchbox from home, which he later used to ignite the fire.
On the day of the incident, as the Tempo Traveller reached Hinjewadi Phase One, Hambardikar struck a match, initiating a devastating explosion. Witnesses reported that he had already exited the vehicle before the blast occurred, leaving others trapped inside. The explosion resulted in the tragic deaths of four individuals, while six others sustained injuries.
