Pune: The Hinjewadi police were alerted on Wednesday (December 18) evening about a suspected murder after a dead body was reportedly found wrapped in a bedsheet in an open field at Shinde Vasti. Treating the situation with urgency, the police informed senior officers, and a Crime Branch team was dispatched to investigate.

The incident occurred around 6 PM when the police received the information. Photographs of the wrapped body were taken as part of the initial investigation. A faint foul odor emanated from the bedsheet, further raising suspicions. However, when the bedsheet was unwrapped for the panchanama, officers were shocked to find that it was not a human body but the carcass of a dog.

Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat of the Hinjewadi Police Station stated, "We received information about a body wrapped in a bedsheet, and due to the seriousness of the matter, senior officers and a Crime Branch team were called to the scene. Upon unwrapping the body, it was found to be a dog, not a human."

The discovery left officers bewildered, and the situation reminded many present of scenes from the movie Drishyam, where similar elements played a role in a deceptive storyline. The incident, while initially alarming, ended without further implications as no crime involving a human was found.
