Pune: A shocking incident has come to light in Karegaon, Shirur, where a 16-year-old boy allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl after luring her to his house. The victim and the accused had first connected on Instagram, where their online interaction eventually led to the crime. The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
According to the police, the boy initiated contact with the minor girl through Instagram and gradually gained her trust. He pretended to be in love with her and convinced her to visit his house. On March 6 and 7, he allegedly sexually assaulted her at his residence.
Before letting her leave, the accused reportedly threatened the girl, warning that if she revealed the incident, he would kill her. Scared and distressed, the girl initially remained silent but later confided in her family, who immediately reported the matter to the police.
After receiving the complaint, the Ranjangaon MIDC Police promptly registered a case against the minor boy under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Shirur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prashant Dhole and Ranjangaon MIDC Police Station Inspector Mahadev Waghmode are leading the investigation. Authorities are now gathering additional evidence to ensure strict legal action against the accused.
