Intoxicated Garbage Truck Driver Hits and Injures Three Women in Baramati

The injured individuals were identified as Jyoti Ballal, former deputy mayor of Baramati Municipal Council; Sunita Gautam Londhe; and Supriya Sable.

Pune: In a shocking incident, three women, including a former deputy mayor of Baramati Municipal Council, were injured when a garbage truck driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, reversed his vehicle into them. The incident occurred on Sunday evening (January 12) around 7:30 PM in the Old Vegetable Market area of Baramati.

The injured individuals were identified as Jyoti Ballal, former deputy mayor of Baramati Municipal Council; Sunita Gautam Londhe; and Supriya Sable. All three victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

According to the police report, the garbage truck (registration number MH-11-DD-1831) was being driven by Yogesh Laxman Chavan. The complaint, filed by Sunita Londhe, states that the driver reversed the vehicle at high speed, hitting the three women who were shopping for Sankranti festival items.

The complaint also mentions that after the accident, the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, used abusive language and issued threats to the victims. Following this, the Baramati city police registered a case against the driver, Yogesh Chavan, and his assistants, Shekhar Vikram Pawar and Vinayak Dhruvkumar Shinde.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are examining the circumstances leading to the accident.
