Kalyani Strategic Systems and AM General Sign Landmark Agreement for Cannon Supply to U.S.

This marks the first-ever instance of an Indian defence manufacturer exporting cannons to the U.S., symbolizing deepening bilateral defence collaboration between the two nations.

Pune: In a historic breakthrough for the Indian defence industry, Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), a subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd, India, and AM General, USA, have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) at IDEX 2025 to supply advanced artillery cannons manufactured in India to the United States. This marks the first-ever instance of an Indian defence manufacturer exporting cannons to the U.S., symbolizing deepening bilateral defence collaboration between the two nations.

KSSL, a leading defence technology company, has been working closely with AM General to develop next-generation artillery systems. This latest agreement builds on their previous collaboration to co-develop a range of advanced artillery solutions, including mounted, towed, and ultra-light gun systems in both 105mm and 155mm calibers.

At IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd., hailed the agreement as a milestone moment for India’s defence exports:

“The supply of Made in India critical defence systems to the United States is a game-changer. We at KSSL are proud to be the first Indian company to export cannons to the U.S.. This agreement reflects our world-class capabilities and strengthens our position as a global leader in artillery solutions. It also showcases the trust and confidence that international defence giants like AM General place in our expertise, reinforcing our commitment to delivering cutting-edge battlefield solutions.”

AM General, a renowned global defence manufacturer, has been at the forefront of developing military vehicle platforms and artillery systems. John Chadbourne, Executive Vice President of AM General, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating:

“This Letter of Intent with KSSL marks a major step in expanding our strategic collaboration. With KSSL’s proven expertise in artillery manufacturing and our shared commitment to technological advancement, we see tremendous potential in introducing advanced artillery solutions to the U.S. defence forces. AM General and Mandus are eager to work with Kalyani Group to develop next-generation mobile artillery solutions.”
