Pune: MLA Hemant Rasane of the Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency has announced that he will no longer put up unauthorized flex banners in public places as part of his "Clean, Beautiful, and Developed Kasba" campaign. This decision, he believes, will contribute to better cleanliness, public health, environmental protection, and traffic management, while also enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area.
Rasane recently led a study tour to Indore, a city that has topped the Swachh Bharat Competition for seven consecutive years. He observed that Indore’s success was built on four key principles:
Efficient use of technology,
Strong political determination,
Active public participation, and
A strict ban on unauthorized flex banners in public spaces.
Inspired by these findings, Rasane has resolved to follow a similar path in Pune.
26 Chronic Waste-Dumping Spots Eliminated
In preparation for the campaign, authorities have successfully eliminated 26 chronic waste-dumping spots in the constituency over the past three months. These efforts will be commemorated on February 26, on the occasion of Sant Gadge Maharaj Jayanti, with a special "Swachhata Narayana Maha Puja" at these locations between 5 PM and 7 PM.
The campaign will officially launch at 11 AM near New English School, Ramanbag, in the presence of distinguished guests from various fields. The Swachhata Narayana Maha Puja aims to inspire greater public involvement in the cleanliness movement, and citizens are urged to participate.
To ensure that the closed waste-dumping spots do not re-emerge, awareness campaigns are being conducted in these areas. Additionally, sanitation staff has been increased where needed, and in some locations, garbage collection is now conducted twice daily. In the coming months, technology will be integrated into the waste management process, and the cleaned areas will soon be beautified.
