Kashmiri Women Cricketers Shine in Pune, Receive Special Honor from MCA Team

Although the MCA team won the match, they made an extraordinary gesture by handing over the trophy to the Kashmir Women’s Team, recognizing their resilience, determination, and sporting spirit.

Pune: The United Kashmir Women’s Cricket Team received an overwhelming response in Pune as they participated in a cricket tour organized under the Sadbhavana Project by the Chinar Corps, in association with the Aseem Foundation. The initiative is aimed at nurturing sports talent, promoting national integration, and providing young Kashmiri women with exposure to India's diverse cultural and sporting ecosystem.

The team, upon their arrival in Pune, visited the MCA Sports Complex, Gahunje, where they engaged with local cricketers and prepared for a series of friendly matches. The opening match of the Kashmir-Pune Friendship Trophy, played at MCA Ground 2, Gahunje, was not just about competition but a celebration of perseverance, courage, and true sportsmanship.

Despite playing in subzero conditions back home, the Kashmiri players showcased exceptional dedication and passion on the field. In a remarkable turn of events, although the MCA team won the match, they made an extraordinary gesture by handing over the trophy to the Kashmir Women’s Team, recognizing their resilience, determination, and sporting spirit.

Dignitaries Applaud the Initiative

The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including the Commandant of NDA, who praised the Chinar Corps for their commitment to empowering Kashmiri youth through sports since 2020. Renowned sports journalist Sunandan Lele conducted the toss and interacted with the players, sharing his experiences and motivating them. Members of the MCA Apex Team, including the CEO and Secretary, were also present, reinforcing MCA’s commitment to promoting women’s cricket.

During the event, a special tribute was paid to Late Colonel Manpreet Singh, KC, SM, a decorated officer who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Honored with the Kirti Chakra posthumously, his legacy continues to inspire young Indians to pursue excellence with courage and integrity.
