Defence challenges arrest

According to reports, Advocate Vipul Dushing, counsel for Goyal, contended in court that her detention was unlawful and executed without legitimate justification.Ketan Agarwal, 26, a businessman and director in his family’s real estate company, lived in Gahunje near Pune. He was reportedly killed on June 18, allegedly by his fiancée and her purported boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary.

Early accounts indicated that Ketan died after plunging approximately 350–400 feet into a gorge while taking photographs during a trek at Lohagad Fort with his fiancée and other friends.

Subsequent police inquiries indicated that the incident was, allegedly, a premeditated killing. Investigators stated that Ketan had gone trekking at Lohagad Fort in Pune’s Maval taluka with his fiancée and several friends when the purported plot was executed.

Police said Ketan was engaged to Siya Goyal, the prime accused in the case, and the couple was scheduled to marry in November 2026. His family had reportedly made lavish wedding arrangements in Udaipur, including booking a luxury palace and arranging flights for guests.

Investigation continues

After an extensive probe, police have detained Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, in relation to the killing of Ketan Agarwal. A case has been filed, and the investigation is continuing.

According to ANI, the Lonavala Rural Police have also confiscated a two-wheeler that Chetan Chaudhary allegedly used to travel from Pune to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident. Investigators have additionally found the hoodie and headphones he is said to have been wearing during the crime.

Fast-track court ordered

In the aftermath of the incident, the Maharashtra government has directed the establishment of a fast-track court. It has also named senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as the public prosecutor in the case, according to ANI.
