Pune: Khed Tehsildar Prashant Bedse has been suspended by the state government on Thursday, July 11. The action against Bedse was taken following complaints of disrespectful behavior towards the general public and lawyers, and for violating COVID-19 regulations.

In addition to his suspension, a departmental inquiry has been initiated against Bedse. During the suspension period, Bedse’s headquarters will be the Pune District Collectorate, and he is prohibited from leaving the headquarters without prior permission from the District Collector, as stated by Deputy Secretary of the Revenue Department, Sanjeev Rane.

The government has also instructed that during the suspension period, Bedse should not accept private employment or engage in any business or trade. Failure to comply will result in the forfeiture of his subsistence allowance.

Complaints of serious misconduct, including violation of COVID-19 regulations and disrespectful treatment of citizens and lawyers, were reported during Bedse’s tenure in Mohol and Khed. The government stated that these actions have tarnished its reputation, leading to Bedse’s suspension.

Recently, on June 29, the state government has suspended Jogendra Katyare, the Deputy Collector of Khed, for breaching office discipline by directly writing to the Chief Election Commissioner against District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase.

The state government's image suffered due to this incident, resulting in the suspension. A departmental investigation will take place during this time, with Katyare's base being the District Collector's office. He must remain there unless given permission by the District Collector, against whom he filed the grievance.

Katyare circumvented established procedures when submitting his complaint against senior officials, prompting the state government to issue a show-cause notice.
