Pune: On January 1, 2025, Pune will witness a grand celebration of the Indian Constitution’s Amrit Mahotsav, marked by unique decorations at the Koregaon Bhima Victory Pillar (Vijay Stambh). The initiative, conceptualized by Vivek Bansode and approved by BARTI Director General Sunil Ware and Registrar Indira Aswar, has been formally sanctioned by the District Collector.
The Victory Pillar will be adorned with an oil painting of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, and a blue flag featuring the Ashoka Chakra and the slogan "Jai Bhim." This distinctive decoration highlights the values of equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution and honors the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, its chief architect.
Organized by Sarjerao Waghmare, President of the Koregaon Bhima Vijay Stambh Seva Samiti, and supported by Republican Student Army State President Vivek Bansode and Republican Workers' Army Maharashtra Chief Yuvraj Bansode, the event reflects the unity and spirit of the Ambedkarite movement.
This year’s decorations will showcase the five principles of Panchsheel, with the Preamble prominently displayed alongside Dr. Ambedkar's portrait and the iconic blue flag. The flag, a significant symbol of the Ambedkarite movement, represents equality and justice. Its dark blue color signifies the lifelong struggle of Dr. Ambedkar for social equality, while the white Ashoka Chakra reflects Buddhist ideals.
“This year, we are commemorating the Amrit Mahotsav of the Indian Constitution, and the decorations at the Victory Pillar will uniquely honor this milestone,” stated organizers Vivek Bansode, Sarjerao Waghmare, and Yuvraj Bansode.
The Victory Pillar, a historic symbol of resistance and equality, will stand as a beacon of the Constitution’s values during the event. The decorations serve as a reminder of the principles that guide the nation and the vision of Dr. Ambedkar for a just and equal society.
