Pune: A violent altercation stemming from personal enmity led to a series of attacks and vandalism in the Lohegaon area on Wednesday night. Three individuals were injured in the attack, and multiple vehicles and shops were damaged.
The police have arrested one accused, identified as Nikesh Patil (21, resident of Khandobanagar, Lohgaon), while two other suspects, including a minor, have been booked.
The incident unfolded when Sandeep Nandakumar Adhav (35, resident of Jadhavnagar, Vishrantwadi) was standing outside his shop, conversing with his friend Salim Bagwan and Bagwan’s son, Adiyan.
Without warning, the accused approached and launched a brutal attack on Adhav with sharp weapons. In the scuffle, the signboards of Adhav’s shop and a nearby jewelry store were destroyed. Bagwan, who tried to mediate, was assaulted with the weapon’s handle.
The rampage continued as the group vandalized five two-wheelers parked outside Adhav’s shop. Moving to other areas, the attackers damaged a car, a rickshaw, and three additional two-wheelers near the Dhanori toll plaza. They also targeted a medical store in Kalwad Vasti and an S.B. Chinese Center in the vicinity, causing significant property damage. Bagwan’s son Adiyan sustained injuries when a stone was thrown at him.
Responding swiftly, senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandip Singh Gill, Assistant Commissioner Rangrao Unde, and Pranjali Sonawane, visited the crime scenes. Under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari, a police team apprehended one of the accused, Nikesh Patil. Further investigations are underway, with Assistant Police Inspector Dhamne leading the case.
