Pune: In an abrupt weather shift, Maharashtra witnessed a sharp drop in temperatures over the last 12 hours, with several regions shivering under a cold wave.
The minimum temperature in Pune city fell to 12.3°C on Tuesday (December 10), while Jalgaon recorded the state’s lowest at 8°C. Meteorological forecasts indicate that the cold wave will persist across the state until December 18.
Cold Winds from North India Intensify Chill
A western disturbance originating in Pakistan has intensified cold conditions in North India. The cold winds have rapidly traveled southward, bringing a steep temperature decline to Maharashtra.
Regions like Nashik (9.4°C), Ahilyanagar (11.7°C), Nagpur (12°C), and other parts of Vidarbha have also reported significant drops in temperature. Jalgaon, with a minimum of 8°C, emerged as the coldest place in the state on Tuesday.

Other areas like Amravati (12.3°C), Kolhapur (19.1°C), and Mahabaleshwar (13.2°C) also reported chilly weather conditions.
Meteorologists predict that the cold wave will continue until December 18, keeping temperatures below seasonal averages across most parts of Maharashtra. Residents are advised to take precautions and stay warm as winter intensifies.
