Pune: In a bid to meet the registration target of 569,625 illiterate individuals under the central government-sponsored Navbharat Literacy Campaign, a re-survey will be conducted across the state this year.

The education department has been instructed to include this survey alongside their efforts to identify out-of-school students.

Dr. Mahesh Palkar, Director of the Directorate of Planning, issued the instructions through an official circular. The Navbharat Literacy Campaign is being executed by the Education Department's Directorate of Planning, with committees appointed at the state, district, group, and school levels.

The state had set a target of 620,000 registrations for both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 fiscal years, maintaining a combined target of 1,240,000 for 2024-25. To date, 670,375 illiterates have been registered under the Ullas Sub-Plan, with the registration of 569,625 still pending.

In this context, the education department has scheduled a survey campaign to locate out-of-school students from July 5 to July 20.

Concurrently, it is crucial to survey illiterate individuals for the Navbharat Literacy Campaign. The department has directed that these individuals be surveyed, registered under the Ullas Sub-Plan, and tagged with volunteers to facilitate their education and literacy development.
