Pune: Results for the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will be declared by May 15 this year. This decision follows the rescheduling of exams to an earlier timeline. Maharashtra’s School Education Minister, Dada Bhuse, confirmed this while reviewing educational initiatives during his visit to Pune.

The Class 12 board exams will begin on February 11, followed by the Class 10 exams starting February 21. Nearly 30 lakh students have registered for the February-March 2025 exams. The exams are being conducted 10–15 days earlier than usual to facilitate faster declaration of results.

“In previous years, results for Class 12 were announced by late May or early June, and Class 10 results were declared in mid to late June. This year, results for both exams will be declared by May 15,” Bhuse stated.

CBSE Curriculum to Be Introduced for Class 1

In a significant development, Maharashtra will implement the CBSE curriculum for Class 1 students starting the academic year 2025-26. This will mark the first phase of a phased transition to the CBSE pattern, with full implementation expected by the 2026-27 academic year. Balbharati will oversee the printing of textbooks aligned with the CBSE syllabus.

Academic Year to Align with CBSE

The state government is also exploring the possibility of aligning the academic calendar with the CBSE model by starting the academic year on April 1. This proposed change aims to bring consistency in academic schedules across schools.

Bhuse emphasized that these initiatives aim to modernize the state’s education system and ensure students receive high-quality learning resources and experiences.
