Maharashtra govt allocates Rs. 43.97 cr for afforestation programme

Pune: The State government has decided to spend Rs 43.97 crore for the government’s State-level afforestation programme. The amount has been allocated for the time period from May 2018 to December 2018. 

To increase the green cover of Maharashtra, the State government decided to plant 50 crore saplings from 2017 to 2019. This year the government set a target of 13 crore tree plantation drive which will be executed in the month of July and next year they have set a target of 33 crore plantations. 

Forest Department, Social Forestry and Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra will be playing a pivotal role in this massive tree plantation drive with an active co-operation of various government departments, co-operative societies, civic bodies, educational institutions, industry, voluntary organisations, civil society, non-government organisations and citizens.
