MUMBAI: In Mumbai’s chaotic traffic, finding a place to park the vehicle is often a nightmare. But soon, the headache of searching high and low for a suitable parking space will be a thing of the past. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started service under the app MCGM 24X7 for vehicle owners to find the nearest available parking lot. 

The app will help the motorists to find space from 500 metres to 5 km and will also provide directions. 

The parking app, similar to the railway ticket booking app, was started by BMC to weed out corruption and make finding parking space hassle-free. 

 The app will enable Mumbaikars to book parking slots online anytime and will also take advance booking for an hour or more at 26 public parking lots and also the parking lots at BEST depots. 

In the first phase of the initiative, the motorist will receive information about the parking lot and the capacity. It will also show whether parking space is available or not. The app will also inform the motorist about the parking charges and guide them towards the parking lot.  

Experts appreciated BMC’s initiative to ease the traffic. “BMC needs to map all parking lots in Mumbai, only then will this mobile application be successful,” said Ashok Datar, a transport expert. “Automatic parking is truly helpful to streamline traffic pressure,” Datar added. 

How to install
Motorists have to install BMC’s mobile app MCGM 24X7 and find the parking link. Once on the app, you will receive the details of the parking lots nearby within 500 metres to 5 km distance. Choose a convenient parking lot and book it.
