Pune: Swargate MSRTC bus rape case accused Dattatray Gade had been targeting married women in Shirur by secretly recording videos of them outside lodges, where they allegedly met their partners for extramarital affairs. He would then threaten to leak these videos and force the women into non-consensual sexual relationships.
Investigators believe several victims chose to remain silent to avoid social stigma, which allowed Gade to continue his crimes unchecked. The police are now urging potential victims to come forward and provide information.
After committing the Swargate bus rape, Gade fled Pune and returned to his village. Upon realizing that police were searching for him, he went into hiding for three days in a farm.
Investigators are now tracing his movements during this period to determine whether he received assistance in evading arrest. Gade will be taken back to his village for further questioning.
As part of the legal proceedings, Gade underwent a sexual capability test, which confirmed he was fully capable of sexual activity. This disproves his previous claims of being homosexual, a statement he allegedly made to mislead the investigation.
