MCCIA Pune Survey: 84% Industries Anticipate Growth, Defense and Electronics Lead

In January 2025, 84% of surveyed companies expressed optimism for growth, up from 81% in December. Companies anticipating a decline in turnover has dropped from 9% to 5%.

Pune: Survey conducted by the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) for January 2025 has revealed an increase in the percentage of companies expecting growth in Pune's industrial sector.

In January 2025, 84% of surveyed companies expressed optimism for growth, up from 81% in December. At the same time, the number of companies anticipating a decline in turnover has dropped from 9% to 5%.

The MCCIA monthly survey, conducted among 108 companies across various sectors, reflects their growth expectations for the current financial year compared to the previous year. Defense and electronics manufacturing companies emerged as frontrunners in expressing positive growth expectations, supported by favorable government policies.

Sectoral Insights

  • Positive Expectations: 84% of companies anticipate growth in the coming months.

  • Neutral Expectations: 11% expect business to remain steady.

  • Negative Expectations: 5% foresee a decline in turnover.

The survey further analyzed revenue growth expectations:

  • Companies predicting over 20% growth have decreased from 37% in December to 28% in January.

  • The percentage of companies expecting 10–20% growth increased from 26% to 32%.

  • Companies forecasting 1–10% growth rose from 19% to 24%.

"The monthly survey helps us gauge growth expectations in the industrial sector. While optimism has increased overall, sectors like electronics manufacturing and defense are leading the way, fueled by government policies encouraging growth," said Prashant Girbane, Director General of MCCIA.
