Pune: In a significant development, Pune police have questioned NCP MLA Sunil Tingre for three to four hours concerning the Kalyaninagar accident case. The questioning was conducted by senior police officers, but the findings of this inquiry remain undisclosed.

The accident, which occurred in the early hours of May 19 in Kalyaninagar, involved the underage son of construction businessman Vishal Agarwal driving a high-speed Porsche car, resulting in the deaths of Ashwini Koshta and Anish Awadhiya.

The underage driver, accused of driving under the influence, attempted to flee but was apprehended by onlookers who handed him over to the police.

MLA Sunil Tingre is alleged to have exerted pressure to protect the underage driver, with claims that he visited the Yerawada police station to advocate for the driver's side.

Tingre has denied these allegations, stating he was gathering information as the incident occurred in his constituency. Despite his denial, questions persisted about why he hadn't been summoned for questioning.

This led to the recent interrogation by the Pune police, though the results of this questioning are still unknown.

Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar revealed during an event that MLA Sunil Tingre had been questioned. However, Pune police have yet to release details of the inquiry.

The lack of transparency raises concerns about what the police might be hiding. Following the incident, the police faced criticism for allegedly trying to protect the affluent builder's son, damaging their credibility.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had previously addressed all questions directly. Now, the concealment of the questioning details has again put the Pune police under scrutiny.
