Nanded City: Father Arrested for Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Daughter for Eight Months

Child Rights Committee uncovered the crime and informed authorities. Following their complaint, Nanded City Police arrested the accused.

Pune: In a horrifying case of child sexual abuse, a 45-year-old father has been arrested for repeatedly sexually assaulting his own 14-year-old daughter. The crime took place in the Nanded City area of Pune, and the police have booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

According to reports, the victim lived with her parents in Pune’s Nanded City area. Whenever the mother was not at home, the father would take advantage of the situation and sexually abuse his daughter. This heinous crime had been going on for the past eight months. The accused also threatened to kill the girl if she spoke about it.

The Child Rights Committee uncovered the crime and informed the authorities. Following their complaint, the Nanded City Police arrested the accused on Thursday. He has been charged under the POCSO Act, and further investigations are ongoing.

Just recently, a young woman was raped inside a MSRTC bus at Swargate. A cab driver was caught performing obscene acts in front of a female IT professional inside a moving vehicle.

Crime statistics indicate a worrisome upward trend:

  • In 2023, Pune recorded 410 rape cases and 738 molestation cases.

  • In 2024, the figures rose to 505 rape cases and 866 molestation cases.

  • In the first 1.5 months of 2025, 56 rape cases and 125 molestation cases have already been reported.
