In this pandemic, face masks and gloves have become conventional. Until the invention of a vaccine, they will keep making space in our wardrobes. However, throwing those masks and gloves in public places is a major drawback, as the practice exposes the citizens to a greater risk of contamination. Several states have reported community transmission.

 The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Thursday, July 24, issued new guidelines on the disposal of the masks. CPCB has stated that masks should be cut and kept in paper bags 72 hours before disposal.

The board has also asked the temporary healthcare facilities like railway coaches, camps, to use separate bins to keep the COVID-19 waste and sterilize the bins every to keep the spreading of the contagious virus in check.
