Pune: As the countdown to New Year’s Eve begins, preparations for “December 31st” parties are in full swing in Maval, Mulshi, and surrounding areas. Hotels and resorts in these popular destinations are gearing up for the festivities, but this year, the celebrations will be under the watchful eyes of the police and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Parties in rural areas have been permitted only until midnight, and fifteen FDA officers have been deployed to ensure safety and compliance. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, areas like Hinjewadi and Ravet, known for their young IT workforce, are witnessing a surge in party planning, with many choosing row houses, hotels, and restaurants for their celebrations.
Hotels and resorts across the city, suburbs, and scenic spots like Lonavala, Khandala, and Pavana Backwaters have been decorated with vibrant lighting to welcome the New Year. Popular locations such as Vadivale Dam, Kasarsai, and Mulshi Dam are expected to host grand parties. However, organizers hosting events in open spaces or public areas will require prior police permission.
In a bid to attract revelers, several hotels have planned DJ nights and live music shows, offering exclusive discounts for young men and women. Entry fees for couples range from ₹1,500 to ₹5,000, depending on the venue.
Speaking about the safety measures, Lonavala Rural Police Inspector Kishor Dhumal stated, “We have instructed hotel and tent owners to employ additional staff and not exceed their guest capacity. They are also required to maintain records of Aadhaar card numbers and vehicle registration details for all attendees.”
Joint Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Suresh Annapure, emphasized, “FDA officials will inspect hotels in Pune district. Strict action will be taken against establishments found serving substandard or unsafe food.”
The police and FDA's stringent monitoring aim to ensure safe and enjoyable New Year celebrations for all.
