Pune: The brother of a former corporator has been booked for allegedly misbehaving with a 26-year-old married woman and making obscene comments over the phone.
The complaint was filed on Saturday (December 28) at the Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station by the victim, who alleged that the incidents caused her embarrassment and mental distress.
The accused has been identified as Chetan Babasaheb Nanavare, a resident of Phulenagar, Pimpri, and the brother of former corporator Jitendra Nanavare. According to the complaint, the incidents occurred on October 26 and December 27, 2024.
As per Senior Police Inspector Gorakh Kumbhar, the accused made inappropriate remarks to the victim, including statements like, “I will take care of you; why are you exaggerating this?” and “Keep the door open; I am coming.” The victim stated that these actions caused her significant embarrassment, prompting her to file a police complaint.
The police have registered the case under Sections 74, 75, and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Sub-Inspector Ganesh Atwe is leading the investigation. The Sant Tukaram Nagar Police have assured that they are conducting a thorough inquiry.
In a separate incident, a woman residing in a society in Kondhwa had lodged a police complaint in October 2024 against two men, Prahlad and Santosh, accusing them of repeated harassment and inappropriate behavior. The misconduct reportedly began with Santosh's repeated attempts to engage in conversation, escalating into more intrusive and distressing actions.
