Pimpri-Chinchwad: Continuous heavy rainfall in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region, particularly in the dam catchment areas and the surrounding mountain ranges, has led to increased water levels in the Pavana, Indrayani, and Mula rivers. In response, water is being discharged from the dams, raising concerns about potential flooding in low-lying areas.

Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has issued directives for the city’s emergency response teams to be on high alert. Residents living near the riverbanks have been advised to remain vigilant due to the likelihood of further increases in water discharge from the dams.

Given the ongoing heavy rainfall and the dams nearing full capacity, the situation is being closely monitored. Commissioner Singh has instructed that rescue teams be on standby along the riverbanks, with quick response teams and medical units prepared to act swiftly if needed. The central control room has been tasked with overseeing the situation and ensuring prompt action is taken.

In preparation for potential emergencies, the municipal administration has informed the Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for possible deployment. Instructions have also been issued to relocate residents along the riverbanks if the water levels continue to rise.

To manage the situation efficiently, Additional Commissioners have been assigned to coordinate with the respective regional offices. Pradeep Jambhle-Patil will oversee the C, E, and F regional offices, Vijaykumar Khorate will manage the D, G, and H regional offices, and Chandrakant Indalkar will be responsible for the A and B regional offices. These officials are expected to respond immediately to any emergencies in their areas.

Coordinators have also been appointed for shelter centers, with specific instructions provided to them. Commissioner Singh has urged citizens to remain cautious, especially those residing near the rivers, as water levels are expected to rise further.
