Pimpri: The planned transfers of 437 officers and employees of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, who have been stationed in the same positions for several years, have been delayed.

The transfers were initially scheduled to take place before the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Assembly elections. However, the transfers have not yet occurred, effectively giving the employees a temporary reprieve.

In 2015, following a directive from the Bombay High Court, the Municipal Corporation implemented a policy for transferring officers and employees in the 'A' to 'D' categories annually during April and May.

This year's transfers were postponed due to the general elections. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh later called for the submission of information on eligible officers and employees, including those seeking transfers for personal or medical reasons.

On August 8, department heads submitted details to the General Administration Department, revealing that several officers and employees, including engineers, medical officers, and clerks, had remained in the same positions for extended periods. A total of 437 employees were identified as eligible for transfer.

In September, Commissioner Singh announced that the transfers would occur before the Assembly election code of conduct took effect. However, due to the election duties assigned to various officers and employees, the transfers will now likely be postponed until after the election period.

The eligible employees include 29 senior officers, such as executive engineers, deputy engineers, IT officers, and administrative officers, all of whom have served three years in their current roles.
